Scope:

The exchange of data between different simulation tools or the incorporation of data from real physical experiments into the virtual design environment is limited or hindered by incompatible file formats. The VMAP Standard is a vendor-neutral interface designed to enhance interoperability in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) workflows by standardizing data storage and transfer.

The VMAP Standard has been further developed to support the storage of Measurement data. This will help in storing the testing and monitoring data within the VMAP Standard along with the Simulation data. The customer wants to organize the data from multiple sources in one place and the VMAP Standard can do exactly that for the manufacturing industry customers.

Approach:

To ensure the ongoing development and dissemination of the VMAP Standard, the VMAP Standards Community e.V. (VMAP SC) was established in December 2022 as a non-profit association. Open to all interested parties, VMAP SC focuses on maintaining and advancing the standard, providing open-source software components free of charge, and supporting the CAE industry through collaboration and guidance.

Outcome:

The software developed need to be customized basing on specific customer needs depending on the simulation tool. The software work based on a local download. Specifications and software reference solutions are provided on a cost-free basis to any interested user or software developer.
